Q: I attended a CITE class in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago. I am looking for a good International Tax "handbook". I am currently using "U.S. Tax Aspects of Doing Business Abroad" by Moore and Outslay. It is out of date and will not be updated. A: For general U.S. international tax matters, try the Robt. Meldman and M. Schadewald text on (A Practical Guide to) U.S. Taxation of International Transactions, published by CCH in association with Kluwer Law International. The book contains about 500 pages of text and forms, including index. If it is still in print, you want the latest edition that includes the 2004 Jobs Act changes. Response: Last week I discovered the AICPA has updated their text--US Tax Aspects of Doing Business Abroad. I had been told that it was not going to be updated. However, the 6th Edition is now available. The 5th edition was an excellent handbook that several of my clients have used--so I am glad it was updated. It is on the AICPA CPA2BIZ website. |
